Injury Rehabilitation & Pain Prevention
Steve’s comprehensive approach to injury rehabilitation and prevention for his clients focuses on five areas:
- Rehabilitate poor posture, poor movement patterns, and areas of pain by improving the ability to sense the position, location, orientation, and movement of the body and all its parts.
- Evaluate and restore the health of any sensory receptors that may have been damaged due to surgery, injury or disuse.
- Assess and improve where needed the function of the visual, vestibular and balance systems.
- Thorough evaluation of respiratory competency. Utilization of respiratory mechanics awareness drills, position specific inspiratory/expiratory muscle strength training and threshold drills (stress based breath control) as needed.
- Ensure that the movement, sensory, respiratory, visual and vestibular systems are integrating optimally with each other providing accurate information for the brain to interpret.
“The goal of any rehabilitation intervention is to re-engage those neural systems rendered dysfunctional from injury and disuse.”
